The UMM/X WS-CDL extension module contains artifacts that allows the transformation of the Web Services oriented protocol WS-CDL into a Business Web Service Collaboration.

This module is under development and should be available 2Q depending on the status of WS-CDL specification from W3C. It is indended that the work should be publically and freely available when ready.

CDL is “protocol” that targets exchange of information between Web Services enabled systems. It is based on solid formal basis and good amount of solid engineering. It is not really targeted at business-, commercial collaborations and trade but it has some surprising characteristics that make it an excellent target for extensions that allows it to carry legally relevant business information. Maybe its what the market want as language for Business Web Services B2B?

What needs to be added? The following small parts and building blocks could independently be used to enrich CDL.

  • Acknowledgements that inrease trust and non-repudiation properties. This part is key to commercial collaboration and this work is indended to fully be compatible with international conventions and UN recommendations.
    See Common Business Acknowledgement
  • Common Business Header:
for Business Information, Document adressing that is independent of exchange of data message principles and transport protocol.
  • Common Business Information:
for the definition, composition and derivation of Business Infornation and Data Messages.Business Information, document definitions and packaging
