ebXML and Open source
Financial Toolsmiths is currently coordinating and running the Open ebXML project with the goal of creating free and open implementations of ebXML standards.

A sister Open ebXML organisation has been founded in Sri Lanka at the School of Computing at University of Colombo.

Research activities:
Within the recently completed research project Open ebXML Laboratory, in collaboration with Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology (2001-2003), a number of areas was explored, including UMMX, ebXML realization, Business Level Agreements, Model driven business systems, Goal driven eCommerce, Zachman framework, Balanced Scorecards. Results are slowly being published as research papers, open source code and products.

Toolsmiths is involved in taking ebXML Core Components to the next level. A contribution was made to UN/CEFACT 1Q 2005 regarding a UML Profile for CoreComponents. The initial set of suggestions is found here

The  “BCF with ebXML” project has now completed its activities. Presentation of the project and its results are conducted, 3 december..  Toolsmiths was selected as the provider of  UN/CEFACT UMM and ebXML knowledge
